Amsterdam – Asset manager abrdn, in its role as investment manager of a European core portfolio on behalf of an institutional mandate, has entered into a long-term lease agreement with Albert Heijn, adding the location to its logistics network. The building, located at Industrieweg 24 in Maarssen, has been redeveloped with a design that will lead to a BREEAM Excellent and Well Gold certification.
The building was redeveloped in 2023 and comprises 27,000 m², subdivided into 24,500 m² of warehouse space, 1,000 m² of office space, 1,900 m² of mezzanine space, and parking spaces for trucks and cars. The building has since been delivered to Albert Heijn.
“Thanks to the redevelopment to a BREEAM Excellent and Well Gold standard, our tenant Albert Heijn gains a highly sustainable distribution center,” said Dominique Schillings, Head of Asset Management Netherlands at abrdn. “Sustainability is central to abrdn, both in developing and maintaining real estate.”
For this transaction, abrdn was commercially assisted by JLL and M2 Real Estate. Savills advised abrdn in the technical process, and DLA Piper Nederland guided abrdn through the legal process.
